You can’t control what life brings you, but you can control how you respond to it.

I know what happens when everything you thought your marriage was turns out to be an illusion. Overnight the rug was pulled out from under me, and what I first discovered to seem repairable, turned out to be unfathomable. My eyes were opened, and suddenly moments that never added up started to make sense. I found relief in knowing I wasn’t crazy after all.

Untangling someone else’s lies

from your truth is freeing

I’m sharing my story of betrayal, deception, and reclaiming my name to show women that discovering the truth is not the end of your story, it’s the beginning of rewriting it.

Betrayal didn’t break me. It rebuilt me.

In fact I’m glad it all happened. He was the best thing that happened to me.

I would rather be where I am than where I was.

Betrayal didn’t break me. It rebuilt me.

WRITING THIS BOOK MEANT GETTING VULNERABLE ABOUT MY HUSBAND’S BETRAYAL, COERCIVE CONTROL, AND FINANCIAL CRIMES

Including the ones that put him in prison

Early on, I wondered if his actions reflected on me.

That ended the moment an expert told me he could be sentenced for what he’d done — and later, when he was.

he could be sentenced for what he'd done

From survival

to healing

I know what it’s like when the storyline you’ve been taught and the one you’ve told yourself to believe turns out to not be real. At that moment you can’t believe it’s happening to you, but you don’t have time to process. You have to get proof, find help, and make life safe again for you and your kids.

I became an accidental detective, forensic accountant, and tax attorney to uncover how much of my financial future and professional life he’d put at risk. I did my due diligence while holding down my leadership role in the family business and keeping the loving and structured home life my kids counted on. Early on, I wondered if his actions reflected on me. That ended the moment an expert told me he could be sentenced for what he’d done, and later went to prison for.

I could have let what I discovered define me as someone something happened to. Instead, I let it define what I was capable of. Surviving was never going to be enough. I wanted to come out the other side stronger, clearer, and more myself than before — not in spite of what happened, but because of how I chose to move through it. I’m writing this book with full vulnerability because what I had to piece together one document and one late-night search at a time is happening to more women than anyone talks about.

I’m writing a book to support other women confronting betrayal, financial abuse, and crimes they are impacted by.

I had to let go of what I couldn’t keep (my marriage), to gain what I could not afford to lose (myself).
